Today my University of Florida Gators take on their SEC rivals LSU.

The 11th ranked Gators were ranked in the top 5 until they lost to an unranked team, sliding out of the top 10.  LSU is ranked 4th in the nation.

The game is in Gainesville so my boys should have an advantage.

It’s been 18 years since the two previous national champions have met but that’s what’s in store when LSU visits Florida. The home team has never lost in a matchup of the past two national champions. LSU has won four of the last six meetings, but Florida leads 28-23-3 in the all-time series.

I wanted to find out how to get a free notebook computer?  This is not a how to article.  The title is a real question.  I need a new notebook and I am determined to get one without paying for it.  I don’t know exactly how that is going to happen yet, but it will.

This may sound stupid to some, but I am now praying that God will show me a way to do it.  Could I just go buy one?  Sure.  But money is often tight for my family.  I have a wife, two kids, a mortgage, and Monster costs.

Besides coming up with ways to get a free one sounds a whole lot more fun.  So here are the top ways online I have found to get a real free laptop!

1. There was a similar question asked at Yahoo Answers (I miss Google answers by the way).
   A guy named “Smokin Joe” answered

   start burglarizing houses, you are bound to find one. Good luck with that.

2. Sell everything. Move to Africa. Qualify for that $100 laptop project thing. People buy the laptops for a hundge and donate them to the charity. Not sure this is the best idea though.
3. Start a tech blog and have a company give you one to review.  This could be a good long term strategy.
4. Enter one of the many blog contests that is giving one away.  I think most of these giveaways are rigged personally. http://tinyurl.com/3jlz62

   Believe it or not these things work.  <– That is not a link by the way.  Just a graphic.  I did this three times.  Got the cash twice and got an ipod once.  If you have the traffic, you might as well.

In the end, I think a contest is going to be my best bet.  You might think I am crazy, but I think my new laptop is on the way.

I don’t want to drop teasers but starting Monday, I am going to do a series of tutorials on how to build an affiliate site starting with an affiliate t-shirt site.

For those who don’t know, an affiliate site is a website that you build with the sole purpose to drive affiliate sales.  I think some of the most common ones are the Amazon sites around the web but there are many other that you would not evern know are affiliate sites.

Whoselalers:

In the beginning, sales online were done through wholesalers.  Someone buys the product in bulk, then sells it at a markup for profit.  This is how every retail store works.  You get products at wholesale prices but you have to carry inventory and provide all the customer service.

If you have ever worked retail, you know how much fun it is not!

Drop Shipping:

The original affiliate sites were drop ship sites.  With drop shipping, you take orders, the customer pays you, then you send the order and payment to a distributor who ships it out but uses your name as the sender.  The customer thinks they bought the item from you but in reality, you were just the middle man taking the order.  You buy at less than retail and usually get to set your prices.

The upside to wholesale and drop shipping is that the customer is yours.  When they want to buy more, they come to you.  You get another sale.

The downside of this is the customer bought the item from you and you have to do all the customer service.  If they charge back or their check bounces, you are out of luck.

Affiliate Sales:

This is what it is all about.  With affiliate sales, you are paid for bringing in business.  When someone buys something, you get a cut.  The profits are generally less than with wholesale or drop shipping, but you do not have to do anything other than drive traffic.

Affiliate marketing is the business of driving traffic to and sales through you affiliate links.  It is that simple.

In the beginning of affiliate marketing, you had to hand code pages and they were not able to adapt to changes at the merchants.    These days there are extremely simple ways of making affilaite sites that look and feel like actual ecommerce sites.  So stick around, subscribe to the RSS feed and watch how easy we build an affiliate t-shirt site.

As part of my (semi) weekly adventure into more traffic I am posting the results of the last week.  This is not really an accurate measure of traffic building success but I have already typed this far, so why not?

Just to refrest your memory, I am on a quest to build blog traffic.  This is not about monetization, yet, it is about traffic.
